Jenna and Oliver’s Wedding Video Highlights

April 28th, 2010 Frank No comments

Jenna and Oliver were married last Saturday at The Alexandra House Hotel, Sussex on what was a lovely spring day. Sunshine, birdsong and blossom on the trees – who could ask for more.

As Jenna entered the ceremony room she was fighting back the tears; but her bridesmaids and the groom’s brother were openly reaching for the Kleenex!

We have produced this short highlights clip from their wedding video using an ‘antique photo’ colour grading effect, which gives something different to the usual black and white.

New Toy!

The latest addition to our kit of equipment is the Zoom Portable Recorder. It’s a bit like a mini recording studio which will allow us to capture high quality audio, interviews, music, plays etc. Indeed,  anything where we need to get an almost invisible recorder near the action.

It often isn’t appreciated that the audio on a film or video is just as, if not more, important than the video image. It isn’t too difficult to fool the eyes with some clever editing or effect, but the ears hear the slightest distortion, background noise or general poor quality. OK, you can ship the audio into an audio editing program like Audion or Soundbooth and ‘sweeten’ it up a little – but it doesn’t beat high-quality input to start with. This is why all the presenters and interviewees on TV always wear tiny lapel mics and during any film or TV production there will always be a sound man with a mic on the end of a long boom just out of sight of the camera.

When we are filming, we never rely on the on-board camera mic for anything other than ambient sound and as a second audio source. This great little gadget gives us another high-quality source to work with.

Another Last Minute Booking

April 11th, 2010 Frank No comments

Luckily its our quieter time of the year. Steve and Jill, a couple of Australians over here studying, phoned last week to see if we were available this Sunday. At the last moment they had decided that none of their relatives in Australia would every be able to see them getting married – and decided that they should have their wedding filmed. Luckily we were still free, so off we go today.

The wedding is just up the road from us in Storrington. They are only having the ceremony filmed so it will only be a couple of hours and back home 15 minutes later! Makes a change from our more normal 12 hour filming day and a couple of hundred miles traveling!

We’ll be using two cameras for the ceremony plus additional audio recorder (as well as camera mic and radio mic) so we should have everything and every angle covered to give them a lovely wedding video. All their relatives will be able to watch the ceremony as if they were there
