What a weekend
Last Saturday saw us getting out of bed unusually early for Don and Della’s wedding. With all the kit prepared the night before, Natalie and me were up at the crack of dawn to drive into Worthing to film Don and Della’s wedding preparations. With a ceremony due to start at 10.30 am (the earliest ceremony we have eve filmed), every one had an early start.
We got some great preparation footage, especially Don’s reactions when he received an Omega watch as a wedding present from Della. Apparently he has a thing about watches and had wanted this particular model for ages. His face was a picture.
The ceremony was held at St. Michel’s Church in Lancing. Although it is local to me I have never been there before. A really nice, bright church with a friendly vicar with delightful gardens at the back. After the ceremony everyone left for the reception at The Walled Garden at Cowdray and it was still morning!
The Walled Garden is one of my favourite venues with it’s laid out gardens and ruins. There are so many little locations for getting great footage. The highlight of the day, for me, was the the blessing held when the arrived at the reception. The bride and Groom and families were led into the ceremony room by Sri Lankan dancers while the priest was blowing a conch shell. Very colourful and moving. My thanks to the bride’s father who kept moving people out of the way when the accidental stood in front of the camera.
A colourful, pleasant day with lovely people. But we were both knackered when we arrived home at 11.00 pm after 15 hours filming. With many hours of footage, the edit is going to be a bit of a mammoth task, but I hope to be able to post a clip sometime in the future
